European Crocuses
An attractive group of plants, which we have been excited to find in the wild. A genus of around 100 species, of which some 42 are found in Europe. Many look similar, and are tricky to identify!

View to the west from the entrance of this Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust reserve; a 3ha pasture bordered by gardens on the north and east sides and sloping down to a brook to the south-west, where it rises again beyond. Also protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the species-rich unimproved neutral grassland supports several notable plant species - a habitat that is now rare and rapidly declining in Britain.
